Description

For sale is my rare and incredibly unique red-on-red Alpina B10 V8 #67/1 (facelift). I'm selling due to the fact that I have other performance cars to enjoy and I can't keep them all! 178k miles (will rise as I am currently using the car as my daily driver). MOT July 2026 (no advisories). 4 previous keepers. The car is in excellent mechanical condition and I have not had a single thing go wrong in my ownership (granted, I haven't owned the car for that long as I like to change cars pretty frequently). The engine has been fully rebuilt ~5000 miles ago, eliminating the risk of the pesky timing chain tensioners failing in the foreseeable future (the only real downfall of this otherwise exceptionally robust engine!) The Switch-Tronic 5 Speed ZF gearbox is smooth and works perfectly. These are very solid units anyways so this is to be expected. The manual gear change using the buttons behind the steering wheel is surprisingly good and fun to use (although this is no DCT). If I were to be very nit-picky I would recommend getting the gearbox serviced at some point although this is not a matter of urgency. BMW/Alpina/ZF claims the gearbox is 'sealed for life' and never needs to be serviced but any good owner knows it is better to be safe than sorry. Fuel economy is not as terrible as you would expect and is actually quite good. I managed to get over 30mpg on a 300 mile run a few weeks ago. I am guessing this is partly due to the refreshed engine! Stunning colour combination of Japan Red exterior with red accents on the interior. All electrics from the sunroof to the heated seats to the car phone work as they should. Four Michelin Pilot Sport 4s in great condition (~3 years old). The car comes with 2 keys (including the keys for the Alpina hub caps), full service history and all the receipts for the important stuff like the engine rebuild etc. Please note, this is not a 10k mile concourse ready car - it has cosmetic marks to be expected of a 25 year old car. The sills and jacking points are solid but there are signs of rust around the bottom of the arches (although nowhere near as bad as most other e39s I have seen - I just want to be as transparent as possible!). I am open to swaps/PX for something cool (911, M3, c63 etc). If someone has a V70R I would be very interested as I am a Volvo man at heart.
