Description
This beautiful Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I was originally registered on 11 February 1956. Chassis Number SXA55 and Engine Number SA152. It has been subject to a mechanical restoration via Phantom Motor Cars LTD in July 2024 and as such presents in beautiful condition. The Masons Black coachwork presents in original condition.
The Lords Red leather interior is outstanding, with the leather in excellent patina condition and further complimented by picnic tables, footrests in the rear, and a centre armrest, all underscoring the car's original purpose as a discreet yet luxurious London conveyance. The wood is unmarked but would benefit from some attention. Turn the key and the car starts immediately, drop the gear lever into drive and the smoothness of this Silver Cloud is immediately apparent, it glides over bumps and is simply a delight to drive. The brakes often a troublesome area of these cars, operate as they should, having been overhauled in 2024.
A good history file dating back to 1956 comes with the car along with a V5 registration document showing this Rolls Royce was commissioned by Major Lionel Brook Holiday, with high profile owners namely Miles & Margaret Blackwell of Blackwells LTD.
Prestige, class and sophistication are all words that come to mind when driving this Rolls-Royce, with its immaculate chrome work and fabulous condition, this is a car that needs to be viewed to be fully appreciated.
The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud was the core model of the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars range from April 1955 until March 1966. The J.P. Blatchley design was a major change from the pre-war models and the highly derivative Silver Dawn. The chassis was a simple steel box section, welded together and very rigid. Construction retained the traditional split between chassis and body which facilitated the provision of special bodied versions, although in practice the overwhelming majority of cars were delivered with the standard steel bodyshell, produced by Pressed Steel, and employing lightweight aluminium-based alloy for the doors, bonnet, and boot lid. The engine was a 155hp six-cylinder unit with inlet over exhaust valves; twin SU carburettors were added in September 1957 and standard was a four-speed, automatic transmission.
