An upgrade on the previous 356, the new 911 was introduced to the world in 1963 to huge acclaim, and will go down in history as one of the world’s most enduring car designs. It was more modern, more powerful and unfortunately considerably more expensive than the 356 it replaced. This backfired on Porsche and sales were slow, so they had to rethink their strategy. In came the 912. A 911 but with a smaller, yet still powerful 90HP 1.6L engine, and importantly a more affordable purchase price. This 912 is a hoot to drive, as it was designed to be lighter and nimbler than the larger engined and more expensive sibling, designated as the 911. Confused? Essentially the two models were similar. This is a nice SWB 1966 Porsche 912, that looks and drives particularly well. Owned by a local enthusiast and member of the PCGB (Porsche Club Great Britain), with only one previous UK owner following its importation in 2013. Prior to this, we understand that the car had spent the previous 15 years in professional storage in California. Authenticated as a matching numbers vehicle, it will be supplied to it's next owner with the Porsche ‘Certificate of Authenticity’, detailing the origin and identifying the factory options of chrome plated perforated disc wheels, wood steering wheel, seat belts and fog lights. The Interior is finished in a good quality leatherette, with very cool chequered cloth trim front inserts. The bodywork is finished in the favoured Light Ivory, as factory specified (V5 states red). Supplied with the car is a file identifying works carried out between 2015 and 2017, at a cost of £28,200. This includes an engine rebuild by HP Motorsports in 2017 - a copy of these works is available in the photographs. More recently, this car has been to PR Services – Porsche specialists in Essex, and had a further £2,200 spent on further improvements. There are a few paint blisters on the lower door panel, otherwise this car is ready to be enjoyed, whether driving or taking to shows.
