I bought this 318 GT diesel as a temporary car when I changed jobs and was waiting for my new electric car but ended up keeping it for almost two years because it's been that good. I wanted something a bit different but still practical. I didn't realise just how spacious the GT is until I got it. It's much bigger than the regular 3 or 4 Series, with more space than the estate version but without the estate look. Rear legroom is unbelievable, and the boot space is huge. The economy has really surprised me. I've never seen it drop below 55 MPG, and on my work runs it regularly returns around 65 MPG. Road tax is only 35 a year, which is lower than many others I found when comparing similar GT models. It's also pre-AdBlue and ULEZ compliant, so running and ownership costs are extremely low. BMW service history is partial and private servicing is by BMW specialists only with oil changes every 4000 miles. It's been completely reliable, genuinely a great all-rounder. I was tempted to replace it with another GT because of how practical and efficient it's been, but I now need a 7-seater, so it's time to move on.
