1963 Land Rover Series 2A 88" SWB - 2.25 Petrol | XMW 106A
Barn-Stored Series 2A
Main Description
A genuine and honest example of a classic 1963 Land Rover Series 2A 88" SWB, retaining its original 2.25 petrol engine and correct 4-speed gearbox with selectable 4WD and high/low range transfer box.
Recently recommissioned with a new fuel tank, carburettor, starter motor, distributor, battery, and coolant hoses. The engine starts, runs, and drives, with no coolant leaks and only the typical minor oil misting expected of a Land Rover of this age. The dynamo has been removed and will need replacing or upgrading to an alternator.
Showing 58,847 miles, with the last MOT in 2013 (58,582 miles). It has been dry-stored in a barn since 2019 and not used on the road since.
Chassis & Bodywork:
Original chassis, requiring welding (notably to the front dumb irons).
Bulkhead repairable but needs attention.
Brakes and clutch functional.
Exhaust blowing and needs replacement.
Retains original features including working 12V Smiths heater, lights, grille, and interior.
A solid and largely untouched base for restoration not over-restored or modified, just as a classic Series Land Rover should be.
Supplied with V5 present. Currently MOT and tax exempt. Viewing is recommended. Ideal for an enthusiast looking for a rewarding restoration project or preservation build.
Stored indoors near Kettering (NN14 area) viewing by appointment.
Buyer to collect on a trailer or transporter. Payment by bank transfer preferred.
