If you are here looking at this you probably already know what a great car the R-Class is - but if not read on. These are great value, well built, safe, amazing family machines or road trip heroes - we've taken this to Europe twice and it has been flawless. They have so much space, great engines, drive well, and are very comfortable. Some people don't love the looks (I personally think it looks great in the flesh) but as an all rounder it's second to none. It's also *not* an SUV (in some cities SUVs are not popular), but has the 4wd and size of an SUV. This is an R500 SE-L, so the long wheelbase one. The short wheelbase doesn't make much sense, I looked at these for a while. The third row of seats is great, and surprisingly good for even adults but let's face it it will be kids and their mates in there. The second row in this has the captain's chairs so this is a 6 seater, but they are great chairs. On a road trip I will often take a back seat, recline and it's like business class. As you can tell, I'm a fan. We are moving overseas so unfortunately it has to go, otherwise we'd be keeping it as a second car for life. Need to know on equipment - this has black leather - the good nappa type of leather - this has electric seats - this has the tri-zone climate control, the top spec - air con is great - this has the ventilation in very rear, not all do - look for the vents in the 3rd row, it's not fun back there without air - this has air suspension, this works and goes up and down as you'd expect - this has the small windows at the back that no-one uses - but they work - this has the automatic open/close boot - this does not have a sunroof - I don't recommend a sun-pan roof on a car older than 10 years anyway, I've learnt the hard way - this is fitted with rear entertainment, one of the screens has a loose connections, but my kids stuck to their ipads and yours will too - don't buy this for rear-seat entertainment - it's not the strength of this or any other older Merc.
