High mileage hero. I have owned this 2006 A4 special edition in phantom black since 2015. The high mileage has been clocked up almost entirely on dual carriageway and motorway and so the condition of the vehicle is much better than the numbers might suggest. Any faults developed over the years have been dealt with immediately and all servicing carried out on schedule. Vehicles from this generation of A4 were built to last and this car has proved to be extremely reliable. It has never left me stranded at the side of the road. A recent acceleration test using ODB2 timing equipment achieved 0-60 in 7.0 seconds, which is exactly what the book says it should do: the engine has not lost any performance in 25000+ miles and 20 years. Body work and paint is generally in good condition, with a few small scratches and minor car park dents visible on close inspection. There is some paint bubbling around the front wheel arches, which is common in all VW group vehicles of this age. The arches have been corrosion treated and are in better condition than some other examples which have less than 100k on the clock. Interior is also in good condition, but the bolster on the drivers seat is starting to wear. This is probably the most worn out part of the car. Car is almost factory spec except for a replacement infotainment system. This features android auto and apple car play, satnav and torque ODB2 software (dongle included). Car comes with 2 keys and barcode for replacement key, lots of servicing documentation, MOT until Nov 2026. Mechanically there are no outstanding jobs, no leaks, creaks, clunks or other unwanted noises. Recent work includes: - almost all suspension arms and coil springs replaced in last 3 years - Timing belt replaced approx 220000 miles - Variable valve chain replaced 12 months ago - new alternator 9 months ago - airbag replaced under recall The special edition was mechanically based on the DTM edition, with the same alloys and engine. The difference is that this has s-line styling, not DTM styling. This makes it one of the fastest front wheel drive saloons for the money.
