Description

Manufactured on 11 May 2000, this E39 M5 is finished in Silverstone Metallic with contrasting black and Silverstone grey embossed leather. It left the factory with a strong specification, including sports seats, leather M-Sport steering wheel, rear PDC, smoker package, 6-disc CD changer and automatic climate control front and rear. The history file shows consistent and well-documented maintenance, including a replacement clutch and full exhaust system in 2011 and a VANOS unit in 2010. In previous ownership it was maintained using the correct Castrol EDGE Supercar 10W60, benefitting from Bilstein rear shock absorbers in 2022 and rear wishbones in 2020. Acquired by the current keeper in May 2022 at 115,949 miles, it has since received extensive attention. The upgraded OEM-look XTRON5 stereo was properly secured with bespoke billet aluminium mounts, the on-board computer was correctly wired in, and the common pixel dropout was resolved with a new Czech-supplied LCD module. The air-conditioning system was comprehensively refreshed with a new condenser, drier, pipework and a Mahle OAM fan unit, and a replacement servo restored the vent operation. Typical E39 quirks were addressed with new or new-old-stock parts, including both coolant temperature sensors, the ambient temperature sensor, fuel-filler solenoid and steering-wheel clock-spring. Even the coin-tray sliding cover was replaced with a NOS item. The wheels were freshly powdercoated with new centre caps. The car has been used sparingly, supported by an exceptionally detailed spreadsheet logging every fuel fill, mileage, litres, cost, MPG between fill-ups, and total running expenditure. The oil was last replaced in March 2025 with the correct Castrol EDGE. Now showing a usable 120,724 miles, it carries an MOT valid until 10 June 2026 with no advisories and rides on four matching Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. It is offered with an extensive history file dating back to pre-production, including a lever-arch folder of invoices, a detailed printed ownership history, previous MOTs to 2003, and an original German BMW production instruction sheet. The BMW leather pack includes handbooks, warranty booklets and the service book containing 10 stamps, the latest in September 2022 at 116,553 miles. A spare key and a collection of original parts including the original steering wheel and stereo accompany the car. A superbly maintained and thoughtfully improved E39, ready to be enjoyed.
