Description
Very reluctant sale to fund house purchase. Unmatched driving experience for the money - 6 cylinder mid-engine paired with hydraulic steering and manual gearbox. The last cayman to feature this combination as the next 981 series ditched the hydraulic for a poorer steering feel electric rack.
Thousands spent with receipts by previous owner and myself to bring back to former glory as had intended to keep forever. Priced to reflect this work and condition, rare metallic blue, rare optional sports seats - much better thigh and shoulder support than standard, and the Carnewal exhaust system.
The 987.2 is the 2nd generation of the 987 series and considered the sweet spot. The 2.9L is cheaper to tax and widely regarded as the most reliable engine when compared to the "S" engines and especially the older 987's, which are known for higher costs and problems.
Fairly priced for its excellent condition - unlike the typical average examples needing work. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by highly respected Porsche specialist Nick Giles, his positive comments included in the photos. Previous owner spent thousands on replacement front end coolant pipes which is a well-documented servicing need with age, receipts included. I've spent thousands since to make it a perfect example with receipts for parts incl. genuine Porsche parts and servicing by 5-star rated Bahnsport Independent.
Upgrades:
Carnewal exhaust - widely regarded as best OEM plus option as no droning and not loud (neighbour friendly) as simply the original that's modified, Porsche Cruise Control, Kenwood CarPlay/Android Auto head unit and upgraded speakers - otherwise completely stock.
Servicing work:
4 new Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres.
Full front end suspension refresh with genuine Porsche original shocks & springs. Also replaced control arms & drop links, steering tie rods, brake discs and pads.
New drive belt and tensioner.

All exhaust lambda sensors and gaskets, bolts, clamps and tip replaced.
Various oil breather lines & Air Oil Separator (AOS) preventatively replaced with original Porsche parts as these are known to crack with age.
New spark plugs & coil packs.
New battery.
All oils & all filters replaced.
Receipts, service book, manual etc. included.
