Description
This is my Puma 90 HT that I have owned for the last couple of years. Was a Utility Vehicle for Southern Water in its early life, so well maintained as a fleet vehicle. Working on the Isle of Wight this Landy has not seen motorway miles.
Buying the Puma I have spent the last 2 years converting it to what you see today. The utility gear was stripped out and tinted rear windows from Masai 4x4 fitted. This helps greatly with visibility and manoeuvring.
Mechanically the Landy came without roll bars, so I've fitted new bars and bushes, the spring and shock absorbers were also replaced. Together with a new steering damper the ride is pretty solid without too much role for a high vehicle. The springs were heavy duty to accommodate additional weight for a roof tent.
I bought a roof rack at MCB4x4, which is low profile!!
On the drivetrain I've replaced the clutch and output shaft with LOF spec parts. This means there is no slack on the gearbox and drive.
Replaced the UJs on both the front and rear prop shafts. Also, upgraded the front drive flanges, and on the rear new single piece 1/2 shafts and flanges (also from LOF).
With a solid drivetrain I then switched attention to the brakes. New discs, pads and callipers have been fitted to the front making it very firm. Rear discs and pads in good condition, but I've got spares.
New wheels are Wolf style steel rims with an offset of ET0 making the Landy 70mm wider without the need for spacers. Along with the Cooper AT3 tyres 235mm wide the wheels fill the arches without making it look too big.
On the inside the rear tub was coated with 'Speed liner' to prevent any rusting, I've added dodomat material into the ceiling to prevent condensation and add some thermal and acoustic insulation.
The radio was also replaced with a DAB that has an integrated phone kit. This thing isn't that noisy!!!! The 6 speaker kit works really well.
Seats were updated with new covers to refresh the feel, but plenty of space for the next owner to make their mark.
This is a very solid Puma that is going to last for a long time to come and will be treasured. I'm very sad to see this go, but know it is the right decision.
Additional spares are available.
