Description
Volvo XC70 D5 SE Lux - 2008
146,134 miles (still in daily use so mileage is likely to rise)
Collection from Ampthill
Selling my XC70 after 2 years of ownership. I originally bought it following a motorcycle accident and ended up liking it far more than expected. I've put around 20,000 miles on it since, and it's been a solid, dependable companion the whole time. My new car has finally arrived, so this one needs to go.
This is a very clean and honest example with no rust, and I've kept on top of all the important maintenance.
Work Done Under My Ownership (All within the last ~20,000 miles) -
Full major service: timing belt, aux belt, Haldex service, engine oil + all filters
Gearbox service
All 4 wheel bearings replaced
Power steering pump
Power steering fluid reservoir
Power steering rack (good used unit from Volvo Saab Breakers)
Rear anti-roll bar drop links and bushings
Rear discs and pads
Multiple wheel alignments
Front lower ball joints
Front brake disc protectors
Injector seals + clamps
Injector 3 replaced (good used part)
Rocker cover gasket
Good Points -
Very clean inside and out
No rust - excellent condition underneath
Matching Michelin CrossClimate 2 tyres, around 5mm tread
Barjo dog guard + divider
4C Active Suspension (fully working)
Great car for winter, long trips, dogs, and everything in between
Characterful Bits (priced to reflect) -
1. Bearing noise
All four wheel bearings have been replaced
I've been told it is likely the front intermediate driveshaft bearing, a common quirk (also seen on Ford Mondeos with the same setup)
Doesn't affect drivability I just didn't want to keep chucking parts at it.
2. Blower motor may occasionally give a little whine for 5-10 minutes, then goes quiet. Sometimes it won't make a noise at all (haven't heard it whine since September)
3. Left side mirror indicator lens is cracked, but structurally sound and works fine.
4. The wheels could do with a refurbishment.
Overall
A well-looked-after XC70 D5 SE Lux with a big list of recent maintenance, clean bodywork, premium tyres and fully functioning 4C suspension. It has a few of the usual Volvo quirks, but nothing hidden a genuinely honest advert for a solid, dependable estate.
