Description

Lovely car, spacious and comfortable with sought after 1.8L turbocharged engine, but MOT failure so would suit enthusiast or trader to bring it back to health. MOT failed on engine management light, tracked down to cylinders 1 and 2 misfiring. Air leak fixed and fuel filter replaced but issue not solved. Engine passed pressure test. Next step would be to replace the fuel injectors on the misfiring cylinders as good chance of resolving the problem - Bosch injectors 90GBP each plus 1.5hrs labour - been quoted 320GBPs total. Also failed on Offside Front Upper Suspension arm needing replacement - quoted 155GBPs for that. 3rd fail item was excessive corrosion on the front left wing. I understand that this can be taped over to make safe. There is less significant corrosion on the front, right wing. See also, advisories on the DVLA MOT history website. In addition, Timing belt replacement is 25k miles overdue, and overdue by time also. Additional signs of age: Water pump has small coolant leak. Climate control unit buttons don't work first thing on frosty mornings until the car has had a change to warm up. Climate cooling (A/C) hasn't worked for years but other features, e.g. heat are ok. Gear box rear mounting is loose and rattles over bumps. There is no safety issue with this, it's just cosmetic and can be replaced with a second hand part. Glove box hinges have broken so front comes fully off to gain access. Internal fabric roof lining (headliner) has come away from the roof as the adhesive has dried out due to age. Had some gearbox bearings replaced and a new clutch at the same time, a few years ago.
