Description

Long MoT (Oct'26), Low mileage, Only 2 former keepers. This will make a great car but it has a couple of things that should be sorted out and I currently don't have the spare time to do so. Hence the bargain price. It drives really well, the engine pulls smoothly, good drive train, brakes and handling (recent new bushes), the hood and electrics are also in good condition. Good tyres, brakes & clutch and everything works well on the car. It's been my dad's car for 12 years, it's always been garaged and he only used it 2 or 3 times a week to travel to and from his Golf course. (Hence the low mileage..) Sadly he recently passed away unexpectedly and I'm now helping my mum to sell it. Some years ago a couple of niggles cropped up, namely that the emissions were borderline at the MoT tests (with the 'emissions' bulb also sometimes lit) and the airbag warning light would come on again a short while after a reset. It also has a slow oil leak and the starting of some rust. (on the rear wheel arches..) But apart from those things, it's a great, regularly serviced, car and it would make a great winter project for someone ahead of the spring. He used the same garage throughout these 12 years and I've spoken with them. They believe that the airbag warning light is due to a worn PCB in the steering wheel; such that when big steering locks are applied the self test airbag circuit momentarily looses it's connection and this triggers the warning light. (So a steering wheel from a car breaker would probably solve that issue.) Likewise, a better catalytic converter would improve the emissions test. The garage would however achieve a pass after a spirited drive before testing it. So maybe my dad just drove it too gently.? As for the oil leak, it's high on the right side of the engine. I've not had a chance to investigate the origin yet and maybe it's just something like a few cover bolts that need re-torquing? But failing that, a gasket set would certainly solve it. Given that he only used the car for golf he didn't feel inclined to fix these things. The car is located in Dorset, 10 miles north of Bournemouth. Contact me for further details and to arrange a viewing / inspection - if the car definitely sounds appealing to you. Please, no canvassers or silly offers. (it's already priced to be an attractive purchase..)
