This isn't your normal MX5. It was restored at a cost of ten thou by the Bangers and Cash restoring classics tv program on the channel. The specific episode on this car is season 4 episode 3 of the Restoring classics program. This involved taking the car, which had done 39000 miles, and stripping it back to bare metal fo a full respray by proper craftsmen, after removal and repair of any rusted areas. The team then did the same on the underside stripping back to Mattel and rustproofing the entire underside to better than factory spec. The whole car was then overhauled mechanically, with amongst other things, new rear springs, a new exhaust, and a full service. Even the tyres look new, and it has the two original keys and central locking remote. It was then sold at mathewsons auction in November 2023. Since then it has undergone two mots but covered only three hundred miles having bee dry stored since the restoration. I bought it in November and fitted an Apple play car stereo, new speakers and renewed the water pump and alternator drive belts. The car is very low mileage and runs and drives perfectly.
