The Audi RS6 Avant is already one of the great automotive contradictions: a family estate car that can embarrass supercars, haul a wardrobe, and cross continents at ridiculous speed without breaking a sweat. But this one? This one turns the absurdity dial all the way to eleven.
Finished in Merlin Purple, it looks less like a sensible wagon and more like something that escaped from a high-end tuning studio after dark. It’s a colour that shifts with the light, sulking in the shade and glowing like liquid neon when the sun hits it. Add the Black Styling Pack, and suddenly the whole car looks leaner, angrier, and faintly illegal in polite company. The contrast is spot-on: no chrome, no distractions, just menace.
Beloved by its buyers as a brute force blunderbuss with monstrous straight-line grunt, prodigious grip and all-weather performance - the “family estate on steroids” par-excellence. The end result is a car that can seemingly do it all. It’s a practical family car and some time load lugger (565 litres of space seats up and 1,680 folded). It’s a supercar-baiting performance car. It’s an excellent long-distance cruiser. And it looks as dramatic as any sports car out there. What’s not to like?
