Description

2002 Mini Cooper S R53. ~96,000 miles, with part service history. Mileage will increase as it is my current daily. MOT until October 2026. Work and servicing (past year): New clutch, gearbox oil, internal ball-joints and bushes. 94,888 miles. Supercharger oil change, new water pump, new gaskets, crank position sensor o-ring, new radiator and low speed fan resistor. 93,997 miles. New harmonic dampener pulley, idler pulley and belt tensioner. 92,927 miles New timing chain tensioner. 91,000 miles. New heater matrix Rear wheel bearing Coolant/brake fluid/spark plugs/oil & filters (i.e. full service) MOT Advisories and bad bits: - Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material both side & Rear Brake hose slightly deteriorated both side. - Oil leak but not excessive. Common for an R53, leaking from the valve cover gasket, but maybe elsewhere too. - AC doesn't work. It has been re-gassed so I suspect there is an issue with the compressor clutch coil which isn't an uncommon issue. - The petrol tank strap which was a little bit scabby. This has been treated with kurust and underbody seal to stop it getting worse. - Offside Front Upper Macpherson strut mounting damaged but not seriously weakened. Slight mushrooming; not uncommon on R53s. - Very occasional slight lifter tick on cold start. - Passenger door locks with the key button, but doesn't unlock with the key button. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug. - Low speed fan doesn't kick in Servicing records from new to 62,151 miles. No records kept by the previous owner(s) between 62,151 until 90,600. Servicing from this point has been carried out by myself. Last service was 30th of June at 92,927 miles. 4x 205/55 R16 Goodyear Efficient Grip tyres, with less than 2000 miles on them. Modifications: - Direnza cold air intake (previous owner) - 3 spoke facelift steering wheel (previous owner) - 16" Alloy wheels (I believe from the JCW mini, also done by a previous owner) - Pioneer bluetooth head unit (previous owner) - Metal dipstick (the original plastic ones were famous for snapping, this was a preventative change) I'm sad to be putting this car up for sale, and I genuinely think it is a very well sorted R53 but I need something better for cruising up and down the motorway. Sale will include a Haynes Manual for the car. No exchanges.
