I'm selling my 2016 VW Up!, which has been a genuinely great and reliable car and has never broken down on me. I've owned it for 6 years, and before me it was owned by my sister (who originally won it from Capital FM), so it's only ever been in the family and has been well looked after throughout.
The car has just had a major service completed in January 2026, including new spark plugs, and it recently passed its MOT with a long expiry until January 2027.
It's cheap to run, easy to park, and ideal as a first car or city car, but it's also been comfortable and reliable on longer trips (regularly driven to the South and Devon).
Condition
Mechanically the car runs very well.
Cosmetically, there are some scratches on the rear bumper and a couple on the sides, consistent with age and city driving. These are all shown clearly in the photos and do not affect the car's performance or reliability.
Service & Maintenance
Part service history with 3 services recorded in the service book
Always had minor or full services during ownership
Major service completed January 2026
Front brakes and pads replaced in 2025
Spark plugs recently replaced
New car mats and boot liner
Tyre puncture sealant kit included
Happy to include emergency road kit and tyre inflator if wanted
MOT & Advisories
The most recent MOT passed with minor advisories only, which the mechanic advised are typical age-related items:
Front suspension bushes showing wear (not excessive)
Front tyres showing some cracking/perishing
Minor oil leak from transmission (not excessive)
Previous light/bulb issues were fixed immediately and the car now has a full, valid MOT until January 2027.
Additional Information
Two Keys
Cheap insurance group
Very economical to run
ULEZ compliant
Please note: this car does not have central locking or electric windows.
Reason for Sale
I now get free train travel through work, so the car no longer makes financial sense for me to keep, particularly with city-centre parking costs. It's been a great car and I'd love to see it go to someone who'll get good use out of it.
Happy to answer any questions or arrange viewings.
