Description
2008 MINI Cooper S (R56) - Enthusiast Maintained & Ready to Drive
MOT: Full 12 Months (Exp. Jan 2027)
I'm selling my R56 Cooper S. It's an honest, high-mileage example that has been maintained by someone who knows these cars. While it has the usual character of a 2008 Mini, the "big" expensive jobs have already been tackled, making it a solid project or a fun daily for someone who doesn't mind a bit of DIY.
The Highlights (Recent Maintenance)
The car has had significant investment in the last year (less than 5k miles ago) to keep it healthy:
Engine: Head rebuilt and timing chain replaced at ~135k. (Jan 2021)
High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) reconditioned in March 2024.
New LUK clutch fitted (Oct 2024).
Reconditioned turbocharger (March 2024).
Fresh oil/filter change (June 2025). Good compression across all four cylinders.
New AGM battery (March 2024).
Toyo TR1 tyres all round with plenty of life (fitted March 2024).
De-resonated JCW exhaust (sounds fantastic without being obnoxious).
Front/rear channel speaker swap mod for better sound quality.
Full "de-chrome" kit for a sleeker look.
The "Honest" Bit (Points to Note)
It is an 18-year-old car with 165k miles, so it isn't a showroom queen:
Bodywork: Expect various scuffs/marks on the body and wheels. There is a small, common rust spot on the boot lid.
Oil: Like most N14 engines, it does consume oil. I check and top it up regularly as part of standard ownership.
A/C: Currently not working. It hasn't worked during my ownership and I haven't investigated a fix.
Quirks: The LED fog lamps trigger a dash light on startup (can be coded out/swapped back), and the rear wiper jet doesn't spray.
I have a folder full of receipts and plenty of photos to share. This is a well-loved Mini that drives great despite the mileage, thanks to the recent turbo, clutch, and fuel pump work.
