Description
I am selling my much-loved 1986 Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet. It was first registered in January 1986 and supplied by Fords of Parkwood, Maidstone. I have the original purchase invoice. Since then, the car has had just two previous owners, the most recent of whom had a full respray carried out in 2019 and an engine rebuild in 2018. I have a huge lever arch file of receipts, old MOT certificates and other documentation to support the mileage, the state of the car and the work carried out on the car at different times.
Throughout its life, the car has always been dry stored, which is reflected in its impeccable exterior appearance.
I purchased the vehicle in July 2023. Since then, though it has always been 100% driveable, I have only used it occasionally and covered under 1 000 miles. I have a full record of the work carried out on the car and my purchases during my ownership, which include an alloy refurb, three tyres, a new hood, a timing belt and water pump in 2023 and a new battery in April 2024. The current MOT runs until May 2026 and the totally genuine mileage is 65 700, as can be seen in one of the photos.
The car is very original, with even the original Ford radio/cassette player. It also comes with a lengthy service history, except that the previous owner had the car dry stored in another part of the country for a long period, and so there are gaps during this time. The photos clearly show the unblemished condition of the bodywork. However, I did recently notice some very slight bubbling on the edge of the bonnet, which could be addressed quite easily.
I'm not sure what I can add, except to say that I am not selling the car for any sinister reason, but rather to finance the purchase of a different, newer vehicle. I will be genuinely sorry to see my Cabi go and am in no desperate rush to sell. For that reason - no offence meant - please do not make any ludicrously low offers. I can assure whoever owns the car after me that they are acquiring a clean, reliable and well cared vehicle.
Do feel free to ask me any questions.
