Discovery 2 V8 for sale - owned for over 5 years. Good points:-Engine is good, starts and runs well. I have had Rover V8s for 35 years and this is the best. Gearbox changes smoothly with no problems - it was serviced (fluid and filter changed) after I bought it. Underside has been professionally rustproofed by "Before'n'After" (Google 'em) who have been doing it for over 30 years . Being a Japanese import it had been treated on arrival, but I wanted the best treatment I could find, and they were happy to give their ten year guarantee. The guarantee states "If you see any rust coming through the coating within the timeframe of the guarantee bring it back and have it retreated free of charge". The guarantee lasts until May 2032. The wheels were refurbed when the new tyres were fitted and wheels and tyres are good. The headlining had suffered water damage from sunroof and roof bar leaks. It was re-covered after the leaks were fixed and is nice and dry. The expensive and unobtainable ACE anti-roll bars were replaced with the correct size of solid steel anti-roll bars. The speedo, though original, has had the face changed to read MPH. The odometer still reads in kilometers though. Things that will need attention soon:- The windscreen washer reservoir has sprung a leak. An aftermarket one has been fitted under the bonnet and works fine. It would be nice to fix the original. There is a weep of oil from the front of the engine which occasionally makes the auxiliary belt slip and squeal on start up. Stopping the engine then restarting stops the slip. The driver's door electric window does not work. From internet searching, it is probably the wiring between door and body. The relay under the dash clicks but the motor does not move. The driver's door check strap makes a loud click when closing the door. It can be quieted by lubrication but it really needs a new one. Half of the reverse sensors do not work. There will be other faults which I have forgotten - best to come and have a look if you are interested. All of these are what I call summer jobs, if the car does not sell they will be fixed then. There are new spare parts which will be included in the sale - including a full set of front brake discs and pads. To sum up, a decent car with the usual problem areas sorted but with a few jobs to be done.
