Description
Engine - Major Investment Completed
The Achilles' heel of many Discovery 4 SDV6s is the well-documented crankshaft failure risk at higher mileages. That concern has been removed from this vehicle.
In December 2025, at 77,463 miles, the original engine was replaced with a professionally rebuilt Ivor Searle remanufactured 3.0 SDV6 unit. Ivor Searle are one of the Europe's leading engine remanufacturers, producing fully stripped, re-engineered and precision-built engines to exacting standards.
Crucially, the engine was fitted by Finlandia, a highly reputable Land Rover specialist in Somerset with extensive experience in Discovery and Range Rover powertrain work.
This BS AU 257:2002 standard remanufactured unit has been fully crack-tested, rebuilt to original manufacturer tolerances, with key wear components renewed and known weak points addressed during the remanufacturing process. The engine is supplied with a 12-month warranty.
The largest potential ownership cost associated with these vehicles has already been absorbed.
For anyone who understands Discovery 4s, this is arguably the ideal scenario a sorted vehicle with the biggest mechanical risk removed.
