Description

Highlights Seven-seater soft-top Series II MOT, road tax and ULEZ-exempt Retains original engine and gearbox Fully rebuilt on a new galvanised chassis Bronze Green paint and Sand canvas finish This remarkably well-preserved Series II model was built in January 1960 with the classic 88-inch wheelbase, finished in Bronze Green and supplied with a canvas roof. Remarkably, its next owner will enjoy the same driving experience as its first registered keeper did, with the original 2.25-litre petrol engine and gearbox still in extremely good order. Minor upgrades have been incorporated only where they aid usability, like a new electronic starter motor and modern exhaust. Despite its heritage and original mechanicals, this Series II Land Rover has been fully rebuilt and restored, with a brand new galvanised Richards chassis, undersealed axles and a fully rebuilt bulkhead. It features Lucas wiper motors and a Smiths heater with new demisters, while the original lights and mirrors are joined by Series II hinges, vent flaps and a radiator panel. The period-correct interior incorporates a wire steering wheel, vent knobs and seat belts for the rear bench seats, and the Sand Canvas hood was replaced in 2020 as part of the wider refurbishment. Described by its owner as being "iconic, usable and future proof", it's rare to find any vehicle which has had such a sympathetic rebuild, combining tasteful upgrades and retained original features both internally and externally.
