RREVIEWS: The C55 signified a return to AMG's V8 roots, after barely a three-year flirtation with a supercharged V6. AMG installed a big-capacity, naturally aspirated 5.4 litre V8 into this ordinary looking C-Class estate. It is not the performance of these understated cars, AMG claimed 5.2 seconds to 62mph, or even the transformation to a deep, wonderfully muscular exhaust note, but the makeover in the dynamics that stood the new C-Class apart. The C55 marked a small, but perceptible, shift towards a sharper, more sporting focus, more than any previous AMG hot rod C-Class. THIS MODEL: The C55 is a rare car with only (estimated) 140 coming to the UK, and even more rare is the estate version with an estimated 40 UK registered. This car was registered on 8 September 2004, showing 4 previous owners.
