Description

I'm selling my son's Mercedes Benz SLK 320 R170. He's recently moved away from home for work and has been given a company car, so he has no use for this anymore. The car runs and drives perfectly. Mechanically it has been spot on for us and we've had no issues with it at all. The engine and gearbox are strong and smooth. It starts first time and drives exactly as you'd expect from a V6. It has full service history and under my son's ownership it has been properly maintained and looked after. It had a service a few months ago and at the same time he replaced all the spark plugs, so that's already been taken care of. Bodywork is extremely good for the age. Before buying it, he had it up on a friend's ramp at a garage to properly check the underneath and it's very clean underneath with minimal rust. There is just one small spot of rust on the driver's side rear arch about the size of a 1p coin, nothing major. The hard top convertible roof works exactly as it should and there are no leaks anywhere in the car. The reason it's priced cheaper than others with similar mileage is due to a few minor bits that haven't been sorted purely because he moved away quite suddenly for his new job. There is a slight rattle from the exhaust when coming off the gas. It sounds like something may just be loose. He noticed it a couple of weeks before moving but didn't get the chance to have a mechanic check it over. When you lock the car the lights flash and if left like that it can drain the battery. He took it to a local Mercedes specialist who diagnosed it as needing a new driver's side door lock. He was quoted 205 for the part and 120 labour, 325 all in. He's happy to put you in contact with the mechanic who gave that quote. It also needs a new bonnet strut. They're around 30 online and very easy to fit. One rear brake light bulb also needs replacing, just a couple of pounds. None of these bits were ignored, it's simply down to him moving away and now having a company car, so the SLK has just been sitting here. My son is 24 and genuinely loves this car. It's a proper fun, affordable sports car. His insurance was only 320 for the year. The car has been hand washed every two weeks by him, it's been genuinely cared for. The car is at my house in Orpington, I'm available in the evening during the week for viewings. If you would prefer a weekend, my son is happy to travel back. Any questions, please call my sons number on the add, he will be happy to answer any questions anytime.
