Description
This is a rare 3-door RAV4 Granite special edition with the 2.0 D4-D engine and finished in the distinctive Salsa Red Pearl and Pewter paint scheme.
The Granite special edition was on sale for only a short period of time between 2004 and 2005, approximately 500 were built and very few were the 3-door version.
The Granite specification includes the Toyota Team Europe 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome side bars, rear spoiler, CD changer, aircon, leather steering wheel and 'RAV4' branded floor mats.
This one also has the genuine Toyota roof rails and lockable cross bars plus ski clamps. A Toyota enthusiast suggested that this car could have been a Toyota UK demonstrator when new.
Other standard equipment includes power steering, ABS, front and side airbags, rear parking sensors, electric windows and air conditioning.
These early RAV4s have quite a following among enthusiasts, especially the 3-door version. They are very versatile, with rear seats that can be slid back and forth to vary legroom or boot space. As well as folding, the seats are also designed to be removed in a matter of seconds (without tools) to provide a large boot space when needed.
What attracted me to this RAV4 two years ago was that it appears to have been well cared for by previous owners, some recent service history is included (including the timing belt and water pump) and both the body and interior are free from significant damage or deterioration despite being over 20 years old: a testament to Toyota build quality. There are a few scratches and chips around the body, some of which have been touched up by a previous owner but these can only be seen when looking closely. It has a good clean MoT history with a current MoT until the end of October. The mileage is 144,300, which will increase as the car is in daily use.
