Description
Supplied new to the United Kingdom in June 1984, this early 2.9-litre Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet is one of just 27 UK-delivered examples, an increasingly sought-after specification. Showing 39,509 miles from new and finished in Rosso paint over Nero hide, it is a highly original and exceptionally well-presented car that has benefitted from a comprehensive mechanical restoration and recommissioning programme costing 17,000 in preparation for sale.
After an extended period in dry storage, the car was entrusted to us for preparation. It subsequently underwent an engine-out restoration and recommissioning to ensure reliability going forward. During this process, the front and rear suspension, engine and gearbox were removed, restored to factory specification and refinished with close attention to detail. The underside and engine bay now present to an exceptional standard, reflecting the extent of the work undertaken. The engine bay in particular, often an area that reveals neglect on lesser examples, is a genuine highlight and presented to a level rarely encountered on Mondials.
The history file is extensive, documenting servicing and maintenance from the car's earliest years. Although the V5 records nine former keepers, the first registration was to the supplying Ferrari Concessionaire, and it is understood that the second long-term owner transferred the car between company entities during his ownership. In practical terms, this example is believed to represent only its third net private ownership. The current owner has cared for the car since 2014.
Externally, the car presents extremely well with excellent bodywork. The convertible hood has also received restoration attention and presents beautifully. Internally, the black leather hide remains highly original and well-preserved, retaining the distinctive character of a mid-1980s Ferrari.
As the market continues to favour analogue, naturally aspirated Ferraris with strong provenance, properly maintained early UK-supplied Cabriolets have become increasingly difficult to source. Of the 27 delivered new, few will have received this level of mechanical attention.
Offered by Stewart Roden Motors, a long-established family-run Ferrari specialist with decades of experience in restoration, servicing, sales and Ferrari motorsport competition, this represents a rare opportunity to acquire a scarce UK-delivered Mondial Cabriolet combining low mileage, long-term ownership and outstanding presentation.
