Description
This is my Volkswagen Phaeton. It has truly been a dream come true having had the opportunity to own and drive one, and hopefully it will be for you too.
This Phaeton has the newer RNS810 stereo and the 18-way heated/cooled/massaging front seats.
The mileage will likely go up a little from what is shown, but I don't do all that many miles, so it shouldn't go up too much.
The previous owner kept all of the receipts for the work they had done to the car in their 10 years of owning it, but I don't have any service history from before that.
It is booked in for an MOT on the 4th of March and as such will be sold with a new MOT. The engine oil will be getting changed at the same time.
Since I bought the car, I have had the suspension level sensors calibrated, the gearbox oil changed and the garage also attempted to fix the tracking.
The steering wheel sits about 10 degrees to the right when you are driving straight. The garage said they weren't able to completely straighten it due to a rubber part being in the way of something they needed to free up with heat. The car also vibrates a little bit between 50 and 60mph, but once you pass 60, it's perfectly smooth and is very stable on the motorway.
The air suspension is working perfectly and provides a very smooth ride. You can use the buttons on the centre console to raise the car up or adjust the firmness of the shock absorbers. The previous owner had the level sensors replaced, but their garage didn't perform the calibration procedure, so the warning light for the suspension was on when I got the car, but it is off now after having the calibration done.
The brake pad warning light is on, but it appears to be a sensor-related issue since the brake pads are OK. The previous owner said the light had been on since they got the car.
The diesel heater isn't working, but once the engine warms up, the cabin heating works fine, though there is a whining noise from a fan coming from under the windscreen wiper area. It's not all that loud inside, but it is noticeable.
There is some paint bubbling on the doors, boot lid and around where the side mirrors are mounted. There is also a little rust behind both rear doors.
There is an aftermarket Bluetooth system fitted which allows you to make calls the same way as with a factory-fitted system.
The built-in satnav does work, but the map's as old as the car and I haven't been able to update it, so I've just used an old TomTom with an updated map instead.
