Description

With a heavy heart it's time to say goodbye to my fantastic Boxter 987 2.7 Manual that has covered an impressive 184k miles! The car has just passed its MOT (due Feb 2027). It's no surprise that it has made it so far yet still looks and drives as well as it does - this car has been enthusiast owned and well looked after. There are stacks of paperwork as seen in the photos and the car comes with 2 keys (and third that has not been cut). The 2.7 is a bomb-proof engine and does not suffer the bore-scoring issues that the later 3.4 has. This engine in particular is the one with the beefier IMS bearing as it is a late 2005 model year. Being the 'base model' 5 speed manual it also falls into the cheaper tax bracket so this one is really the one to have. The car has had 4 previous owners, one of which being myself. I have owned this car twice - I had to sell it the first time to raise funds for my dream car. It was sold to an older gentleman who covered less than 5 miles in his ownership before he gave into my relentless messages begging him to let me buy it back off him! I have had the car for a year since then and have finally come to the realisation that it is not getting the use it deserves. Cosmetically the car looks great but it is a 20 year old car with close to 200k miles so there are a few minor stone chips and minor dings. Nothing major really to note. I have recently put a new set of Michelins on. These have covered less than 100 miles. As with any older car there are a few little niggles - the windows often don't duck back up when the doors are closed (never bothered me as I would just close them with the switch) and the window switch on the drivers side sometimes needs a bit of encouragement although I should be getting this replaced soon with a genuine Porsche switch. The roof mechanism has been removed as I prefer the reliability of a manual operation which takes me about 15 seconds to do. I still have all of the bits for if you want to put the mechanism back in (an unexpectedly simple job) and it all works fine but you would need to buy a new plastic clip ( 10) as the old one broke. The car has a Carnewal GT exhaust on it that was fitted by the previous owner. He apparently drove all the way to Germany with the Porsche owners club and they all got the same exhaust at the same time! It sounds fantastic, loud when you are getting on it but doesn't drone on the motorway.
