Description

2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 55 AMG (W208). I've owned the car for 13 years, for 10 of that it was my daily driver, but the last 3 years it's been off the road due to multiple factors (other cars in the household, two young children, house restoration). I was intending to put it back on the road this year but having had it checked over by my local Merc specialist the list of things to put right is getting beyond what I'm prepared to do. It failed an MOT as part of that garage visit, so it's being sold as a restoration/repair/spares. It runs and drives but cannot be driven away, it will need collecting on a truck or trailer. The vehicle is genuinely original and unmodified. Very well equipped at the factory, it has electric mirrors, electric seats (with air inflation adjustment for the bolsters and lumbar etc), front and rear parking sensors, the full high-end COMAND stereo unit with built in navigation, BOSE speakers, an electric sun blind built into the rear parcel shelf, it even has a ski bag behind the rear arm rest. The engine in this car is really something, a naturally aspirated 5.4L V8 putting out just shy of 350HP, which even with being off the road for a while starts up and makes the most glorious sound. The car has the correct set of staggered AMG alloys fitted for this model year, with Continental tyres all round. I have extensive history for the vehicle, it's been maintained by Merc specialists throughout my ownership and has only ever been run on Shell V-Power fuel. While the car never wanted for anything in terms of mechanical maintenance while I drove it daily, the last few years of sitting on the driveway haven't been kind to it. The MOT fail was due to quite a bit of corrosion on the chassis and the brake discs, as well as an emissions issue and the faded headlights, though there were other items that would still need addressing beyond getting it road legal. Cosmetically the car needs a fair bit of work to deal with the rust patches that plague Mercedes from this era plus a particular bad nearside front wing. The alloys all need refurbishing. This is about as hesitant a sale as it can be, this was always going to be a forever car for me but I just can't justify the amount of work involved in getting it back to tip top condition. I'm hopeful there's someone out there that can take it on. I've priced on the basis of how rare and complete the car is, but I am open to offers from genuine buyers.
