2004 Toyota MR2 1.8 VVT-i Red Edition Roadster, 6-speed manual, 96,500 miles. This is my private car, with the V5C in my name. It is a genuinely well-kept example with full service history, backed up by a strong folder of documents and printout proof for servicing and maintenance. Over recent ownership, I have spent money in the right areas. The car has had a brand new mohair soft top, a new set of tyres with less than 2,000 miles covered, tracking done at the same time, new brake discs and pads, brake fluid renewed, and new spark plugs. The last two services were carried out using Liqui Moly 5W-30. I have also had the car undersealed, not to hide anything, but simply as a protective measure. The chassis is clean and solid, and if you have viewed a few other MR2s before coming to see mine, you will understand how much that matters on these cars and how much value there is in finding one with a good underside. There is also a bit of personal history with this car. I sold it to a friend around 2 years ago, and recently bought it back when he moved on to another car. Since buying it back, I have enjoyed it again for the past few months during this second period of ownership, and it reminded me exactly why I liked it in the first place. It is not the most practical car in the world, but that is part of the charm. On a sunny day with the roof down, it is a lovely thing to take out, and it still gets thumbs up from fellow car enthusiasts. It has that simple, honest sports car feel that many newer cars seem to have lost. The car drives exactly as a good MR2 should light, direct, and properly enjoyable. Good examples with strong history, documented maintenance, and clean condition underneath are getting harder to find. The only reason I am selling is because I am buying a house this year and continuing to downsize my car collection. I have already reduced from 6 cars down to 3, and this is now the next one to let go.
