Description
I'm reluctantly selling my prized Renault 5, as I had the opportunity to take a friend's car for cheap and don't have the space or time for two cars. It's been really enjoyable to own, super fun to drive, you can see why they were great for rally. If you like old quirky stuff this will suit, I've gotten a lot of compliments on it, it's even carbureted!
It needs a little TLC to be in the shape it deserves, I've let the MOT lapse unfortunately but I don't see why it wouldn't pass when it goes through. Body and paint are in fair condition considering the age, not much rust, it wouldn't take much to get it to a really good state. Note that the exhaust is quite loud also, the previous owner welded the muffler themselves, I like it but it could be too much for some.
Small issues I'm aware of:
The steering rack is quite loose, needs replacing soon
There's a significant crack in the windscreen
Rear demister doesn't work, could be a fuse?
The indicator blinks twice as fast going left, bulb about to blow?
The A/C fans are really noisy, and it doesn't blow very cold (warm is great)
Needs a new drain bolt for the next oil change, I've stripped it
The air filter is zip-tied together, but works fine, never touched it
Since owning for the last year I have replaced:
Oil & Filter - 16/02 @ 112517 miles
Clutch - 23/05 @ 114823 miles
Front passenger tie rod end - 12/06
Front passenger wheel bearing, bottom ball joint & driveshaft - 26/06
4x Sumitomo BC100 tyres - 25/09
Rear passenger wheel bearing - 15/12
Oil & Filter - 19/12 @ 121565 miles
It will come with the following spare parts:
4x Spare Wheels (with hubcaps)
1x near new tyre, to fit the rims installed
Clutch Cable (you'll probably need this, I've replaced it twice)
Tie Rod End
Front Brake Pads Set (x4)
Front Brake Rotors (x2)
Front Brake Hub & Wheel Bearing (x1, could be the wrong one)
Oil Filter & Various Bulbs
And all the other bits you collect with older cars!
