Description

A stunning example of this classic Wrangler, with the four litre, six cylinder high output engine. Unusually for these old vehicles, the chassis and seams are rust free and in excellent condition. It has a four inch lift kit installed, and lots of chrome detailing as shown in the pictures. It doesn't like to start from cold, but always does start after a few cranks of the engine. Once it's up and running it drives really well, pulls like a rhino, and roars like a tiger! The spare wheel swings out on a steel cradle to access the rear tailgate. The hydraulic arm for the rear window has lost some of its oomph but the window does stay up okay, just a bit lower than it should. The rear seats can be removed really easily, and all the interior body coloured roll bars have padded coverings on them. There are very few modern conveniences with this old model, but there is a charm to the old fashioned dashboard and manual window winders. The previous owner installed a stereo and FM transmitter to play your music through but I haven't tried this out. I'd rather listen to the rumble of that engine. Bodywork is generally fine bar some minor imperfections here and there. The exception is a couple of patches on the bonnet (pictured) where the varnish has lifted and there's some discolouration. I think some T-Cut and a spray of lacquer should improve that when the weather gets a bit warmer. The chrome is generally in very good condition, bar some small areas of surface rust. The driver's door handle isn't so great and would benefit from being sprayed black to match the passenger one. On the whole though the bodywork and chrome are very good, and combine to create a real head turner. This YJ is priced a little higher than the norm because of how unusual it is, the great condition of the chassis, and the extra remedial work that has just been carried out. It has had a new clutch master cylinder fitted, new body mounts, a new fuel tank sender unit and pump, a new crank sensor and timing chain, and new rear brake shoes and cylinders. Other, smaller jobs have also been carried out by a Jeep specialist over many months and at some considerable expense. It means that this particular YJ runs beautifully and the chances of anything major going wrong with it are pretty slim. It's about as good an example of this hard to come by Wrangler as you are ever likely to find. Jeep YJ number plate included in the sale Lots of old MOTs and other paperwork available
