Description
1998 Factory Built Caterham 1.8 K Series SuperSport specification / build.
Commissioned and bought new from Caterham in 1998 as a self treat for retirement for the first owner John, copy of the original bill of sale is in the extensive file of paperwork as well as all the options ticked. Owned from new for approx. 16 years, unfortunately John admits he just got too old for climbing in and out. A friend then tried to export it to South Africa but found it too much trouble / red tape / bureaucracy at the time (2nd owner), whereupon I purchased it in November of 2014. Owned since then by myself.
Mileage - 40,707 but my go up slightly with this good weather.
Jaguar Green (slightly darker than the BRG) and yellow nose cone / stripe.
Black leather interior and red 4 point harness.
Prisoner alloys
6 speed gearbox
Full weather protection
Large box of bits / spares such as side mirrors and wind deflectors if you take the doors off, luggage rack, spare new clutch and throttle cableetc
Engine has been re-built entirely in my possession, open cheque book each time it has gone into the garage and I have always had the philosophy of upgrade instead of replacing with anything.
It has therefore had the following:-
Wossner forged con rods and pistons
Lightweight flywheel
Piper race cams
VVC delete and Veneer pulleys
Emerald K6 ECU
Triple core alloy radiator (new this year - zero miles)
Brose starter motor
4 - 1 exhaust
Quick rack steering rack
Big brake disc conversion (front)
New Emerald wiring loom for K series engines
New fuel tank
New front suspension
Door arm rests
Tunnel bag
LED bulbs / headlights
4 brand new tyres (approx. 100 miles - you can still see the bobbles on all four tyres)
Lots of other miscellaneous items that I've missed.
The car is dry stored in a proper car storage facility and hooked up on a trickle charger - I live in Aberdyfi but need a week to get it out of storage and here for viewing (I work away from home so can't just turn up with it the next day and I am not allowed viewing for obvious reasons at the car storage facility). In light of this, please bear with me to arrange viewings and it only comes out if it's dry. I trust the true enthusiast amongst you will respect that I will not be responding to endless chit chat on this advert, understandably I am only looking to engage with serious buyers. Interested parties should message me initially, with a view to moving to a telephone conversation before being invited to view the car.
