A Ford Focus Mk1 LX 1.6 Automatic I've had this car for about 2 and a half years and driven it over 25,000 miles (mainly on motorways) and enjoyed it tremendously However I recently put it in for a full service and then an MOT They did the full service and then assessed the car to see what it would take to get it through an MOT They quoted me 1,400 quid to do the work - various bits and pieces You can see their estimate in the 2nd to last photo It doesn't make sense for me to do this, so I'm selling the car for spares or repairs Also, after the service the car was worse than before the service Probably the garage did something wrong, I don't know for sure But since the car is basically unviable, I didn't pursue this with the garage other than an angry email So here it is - a great car, but now in bad shape GOOD POINTS - starts every time, even now - a really great handling car, in my opinion - ULEZ Compliant - various suspension and steering components were replaced about a year ago, and it handles as it should - engine seems largely keen and OK, although I'm no expert - had a full service about 3 weeks ago, although that service seems to have made the car worse - 3 weeks left on the MOT - 2 x 6-month old Goodyear all season tyres on front wheels with excellent tread remaining - tread on rear wheels seems fine - good stereo BAD POINTS THAT EMERGED AFTER A RECENT SERVICE - often, but not always, a heavy clunk and jolt when putting car in reverse - jerky (but not heavily jerky) gear change - engine sometimes (not always) reluctant on slopes or to pull away at lights - quite a noticeable fuel smell when starting from cold (when standing outside) - 2 warning lights on dash shown in final photo - will not go out of 2nd to top gear on motorways - in other words, will not change up to highest gear EXISTING BAD POINTS - sometimes a pained mechanical sound from ventilation, but it always goes away and then ventilation works OK - central locking does not work and mechanical locking is troublesome - alarm does not work - push button key is worn out and will not turn ignition or set the alarm (but a regular key does turn the ignition) Car is SORN Car is located in Orpington, outer SE London
