Description
Alfa Romeo 159 2.2 JTS Ti Cloverleaf 6 speed manual. Presently 95315 miles but still in use - First registered 30/01/2009. MOT expires 23/08/2026. V5 present in my name
I had never thought I'd be selling one of these let alone owning one. However, strange days at the end of last year led to a terminal MOT failure of my car. Our son in law had this car that he wasn't using much & thus it ended up being donated to me on a "long-term test drive basis".
I drove the car for 6 weeks covering 1500 miles before retiring, our son in law then decided he needed to sell it, I still did not have a car, so, ended up buying it. The car is a reliable starter & drives fine but it is time to move it on as not really practical for my present requirements.
I like his car a lot, to me it has typical Italian idiosyncrasies mainly in the way it is laid out inside, sort of a "it's Italian, we do it this way".
Looks like leather seats & door cards but am not going to state they are, but there are no rips or tears & the seat bolsters are OK. Interior wise it is pretty good condition & remarkably all electrics appear functional even cruise control.
The dual climate control in heating mode certainly is, in cooling cannot say for certain that there will be icy cold air coming into the cabin at 30 degC ambient but is seems to be functional producing cooler air
The clutch is heavy in my view, though the Alfa Romeo specialists in Fleet considered it normal, the gear change has to be mastered as it needs firmness from the operator but NOT brute force & with an understanding that there are invisible gear selector gates that need to be traversed during gear shifting.
The engine is, I think wonderful, it is tractable & pulls from low down and revs up to 6K willingly. Overall, it's a nice car, not perfect as any 16/17 year old car would not be expected to be. No rust on the visible on the bodywork, have not been underneath though but imagine it should be OK.
My view this is a very good looking 4-door 4-seater car from the renowned Italian designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro. External appearance is however, slightly marred by lacquer peeling on the driver's door above the swage line & to a lesser extent on the roof, please see photos
2 functioning remotes with driver's door key in each of them.
