Description

Finished in Basalt Black Metallic with a grey leather interior and specced with sunroof, PCM2, Porsche crest headrests and stainless steel Turbo sill guards, this is a well-documented example of one of Porsche's finest. A small roster of tasteful upgrades has elevated the driving experience without compromising the car's inherent rightness. Fully adjustable KW V3 coilovers replace the standard suspension (recently configured with a fast-road alignment and GEO). A Kline exhaust with decat brings the Mezger flat-six to life in a way that's thoroughly addictive without becoming obnoxious. The original exhaust is supplied with the car, keeping options open. A mild remap completes the picture. The history file is where this car really distinguishes itself. Continuously serviced by Porsche main dealers and respected independents throughout its life – AFN, Porsche Guildford, Porsche East London, Jaz Porsche, Ninemeister and D&G among them – it tells the story of a car that has been used and cared for properly. An engine rebuild was carried out at Porsche East London at 37,853 miles; the car has covered a further 70,000 miles since without issue. The gearbox received new pinion bearings at Jaz Porsche in 2009 – a known characteristic of the model, addressed correctly and documented. All four brake calipers were rebuilt in 2017; brake lines and starter motor renewed in 2019. Beyond the evidenced service stamps, a substantial file of additional receipts and invoices totals in the tens of thousands. The car is accident free, has spent the last five years with the same owner, and a full service will be performed prior to sale. For transparency, there is a small rust bubble beginning on one rear arch. The price reflects this accordingly. The 996 Turbo remains one of the most complete performance cars ever built – a twin-turbocharged, all-wheel drive machine that blurs the line between sports car and grand tourer with suspicious ease. The Mezger flat-six is an engine of genuine legend, the hydraulic steering talks to you in a way that modern cars no longer do, while the brakes inspire complete confidence. Drive it hard and it still has the capacity to embarrass almost anything on the road, especially so in this specification. Yet drive it to the west coast of Scotland and it will return 28mpg on the motorway without complaint. Three pedals, a proper gearchange, and performance that hasn't aged a day. Three pedals, a proper gearchange, and performance that hasn't aged a day. At £36,950, you'd be hard pressed to find a manual 996 Turbo on the market for less. Part exchange considered.
