Description
BMW 520i ES Automatic (E39) - first registered May 1999.
I have owned this vehicle since November 2002, so this is a genuine long-term ownership example, not a trade sale.
The E39 is widely regarded as one of BMW's best-built models and is now increasingly recognised as a modern classic, offering solid build quality and a refined driving experience that is difficult to replicate in newer cars.
This is an honest, original car that has been consistently maintained and remains mechanically strong. The engine and automatic gearbox both perform well, with smooth operation and strong kickdown.
Recent maintenance includes:
New battery
New brake discs and pads all round
Condition:
The car presents well for its age and remains very clean internally, with a tidy and well-kept interior. It comes with both carpet and rubber mats, along with the original BMW rubber boot liner and complete toolkit.
Externally, there are age-related marks as expected on a 1999 vehicle, along with a small area of rust to the offside rear sill which is repairable. It would benefit from a routine service and general attention (including tyres and minor items), but is a solid and usable example as it stands.
Additional Information:
Mileage: 113,415 miles
Long MOT (expires 31st March 2027)
V5 present in my name
Extensive documentation/history
Spare wheel and tools complete
Private sale
Summary:
A genuine, increasingly rare E39 with long-term ownership and strong mechanicals. Not a restored show car, but a very honest example that would suit someone looking for a usable modern classic with scope to improve further.
Reason for sale:
Surplus to requirements due to company vehicle.
