Description

N.B. Car is N category "write off" but the damage is purely cosmetic which is a small dent and paint scuff to the passenger side rear panel below the rear bumper. (see photos) Otherwise the car has been very lightly used since we bought it in 2009 when it had about 35,000 miles on the clock and one previous owner: doing roughly another 50,000 miles over the 17 years until now. This is because it was bought for my wife who has been unable to make very much use of it because of health problems. Up until recently we'd intended to keep it as my son's first car, but we no longer have the space to store it until he's old enough sadly. A recent RAC inspection checked the brake pads and rear drums and were described as 'pretty much as new'. The front tyres were replaced less than 6 months and much less than 1,000 miles ago. The rears are OK but not so new. Cosmetically the exterior has some paint chips and a couple of small areas where the paint is flakey. Otherwise it's what you'd imagine in a 23 year old car that's MOT'd until August. The interior is generally OK apart from: 1) The ceiling fabric is loose and hangs down a bit. 2) The central arm rest's lid (it's a compartment) doesn't stay closed when put in the upright position. 3) A piece of plastic fascia is missing from the left rear side of this central arm rest. 4) There's a faint stain on the left rear ceiling fabric. Both the last two issues were caused many years ago by a toddler clambering and chucking yoghurt about respectively. 5) The driver-side rear passenger door is temperamental with regard to central locking and unlocking. It tends to work through the summer months and stop working in colder weather. This has been investigated but the mechanic couldn't find anything obviously wrong because at the time the door was opening normally. 6) While I do have the original Skoda CD player somewhere - which connects to a CD changer in the boot - it was replaced years ago with a Pioneer CD player and radio. Of course I'll dig out the original radio if the buyer really wants it. Buying a car this age is always a calculated risk, but with such a relatively low mileage it will very likely offer good and reliable service for a few more years. Though it needs some attention to the best of my knowledge it's sound and has been amazingly reliable since the day we bought it in 2009.
