The N18 engine replaced the infamous N14 version from 2011 on. The previous Cooper S engine had earned a reputation for unreliability, the main issues being with timing chains, coking and fuel pump failures. Timing chain rattle on cold starting has become known as the "death rattle", a particularly serious and expensive engine problem. This car runs well, has been properly maintained and looks good with it's combination of beige upholstery and metallic black paintwork. I'm only selling to replace with a newer JCW version.
