Description
I've owned this car for almost 5 years, and it's been an absolute workhorse. It's powered by the highly sought-after 3.0L turbocharged straight-six (M57N), which has been extremely reliable during my ownership.
It drives really well for its age and mileage, pulls strongly and comfortably returns 45+ mpg on a run, and high 30s around town. All four tyres have plenty of life left, MOT runs until 9th September, and a new alternator was fitted earlier this year.
Let's be clear, this is not a mint, showroom-condition car. It's an 18-year-old vehicle with 203k miles, so expect the usual age-related wear and tear. That said, it's still a solid, dependable car.
Things to note:
Daytime running light bulb needs replacing
Intermittent parking sensor fault (front sensor replaced a few times, never bothered me enough to fix permanently)
Slight rattle over bumps, likely bushes on the front lower arm (as advised), but hasn't affected tyre wear or tracking in over 2 years and not failed MOT due to this issue
Some steering wheel play, has been like this for a long time and hasn't worsened
On cold starts, there can be some smoke and slight judder when you move off for the first 100m or so due to the previous owner having the DPF internally removed. It has passed emissions every MOT without issue
Wheels are cosmetically tired, though tyres are good. Rear nearside loses a bit of pressure every 6 weeks or so, likely the rim rather than the tyre
General cosmetic marks and scrapes consistent with age and mileage
Only 1 key
I have service history from when I purchased the car at 165k miles. It could do with a routine oil change now.
Overall, a strong, reliable car that's been used as intended and still has plenty of life left in it.
