Description
1973 Mercedes-Benz W114 280 Coupe - 533BHP OM606 Turbo | BaggedBenzUK Build
This is a 1973 LHD Mercedes-Benz W114 280 Coupe that's been turned into something completely unhinged a brutal mix of classic German style and modern diesel madness. Built by Dan Reading at BaggedBenzUK, this car started life as a classy coupe and ended up as a 533BHP turbo diesel animal.
Under the bonnet sits the legendary OM606 3.0 turbo diesel, taken from a W210 E300 and heavily built to handle serious power. With a modified HX40 turbo and Dieselmeken 7.5 pump, this engine now produces around 533 BHP and delivers torque like a freight train.
Power is sent through a Mercedes S600 automatic gearbox, controlled by an OF Gear controller with custom paddle shift, giving you instant gear changes and keeping the turbo right in the sweet spot.
The car has also undergone a full down-to-metal respray, bringing the body back to life while keeping the original timeless W114 coupe shape.
Let's be honest this thing is a bit of a widowmaker.
Originally built as a stance master show car, it quickly turned into something far more serious. The amount invested into the build is far beyond what the original car would ever cost but builds like this are never about being sensible.
With Toyo R888 tyres, the right conditions, and a driver brave (or mad) enough to keep their foot in it, this car will push towards 195mph.
On a private airstrip, the car has already seen 180mph, and it was still pulling.
You get the idea.
This isn't a car for someone who wants something calm and comfortable.
