Description

1986 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (R107) - Signal Red | Black Leather | Properly Sorted Example A truly standout Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (R107) finished in classic Signal Red with black leather and, crucially, one that's been done properly where it matters. If you know these cars, you'll know the difference between a tempting cheap example and one that quietly empties your wallet, and gives you sleepless nights. Corrosion, tired structures, neglected mechanicals the usual greatest hits. This is the opposite of that story. I've owned this as part of a private collection and invested heavily to make it right, not just look right. I had planned to keep her long term, but new toys are on the way. Key highlights: Brand new soft top roof New 16" alloy wheels with matching Michelin tyres Retro style Blaupunkt stereo with modern streaming capability - iphone etc Extensive underside and sill reconstruction - professionally carried out and a significant investment (the bit most cars desperately need, but rarely get) The result is a car that feels solid, tight, and reassuring in the way a good SL should. Doors shut with that proper Mercedes "bank vault" feel, and it drives without the looseness or underlying worry you often find in lesser cars. Bodywork presents beautifully, interior is clean and classic, and it has exactly the right presence understated but unmistakably premium. This is a very high grade example in the sense that the hard, expensive jobs have already been done. You're not buying into a project or a list of "one day" repairs you're stepping straight into a sorted car you can enjoy. If it had less miles it would be double the price. Only for sale as I'm rotating cars within the collection. No rush to sell, and I'm not chasing bargain hunters. I'd much rather it goes to someone who understands what a solid R107 is worth. If you're comparing this to cheaper examples, just make sure you look underneath them first.
