Description
I bought this vehicle through my company from a Sheffield main L/R dealer as an ex demo Jan 2000. I then purchased it from my company in April 2000, so other than the main dealer, I am the sole owner.
The car has a full service history.
In 2019, I started a restoration project after needing a new clutch and some underbody structural work.
The clutch/master/slave cylinders were replaced starting 25/2/19 @ 43,306 miles so has covered 3,452 miles since then. Cost - 1226.00
In 9/10/19, structural/replacement parts undertaken. Cost - 1949.00. @ 44,167 miles so has covered 2591 miles since then.
In 27-30/11/20, a new Galvanised chassis together with further underbody restoration work was done. Cost - 3630.00 @ 45,571 miles so has covered 1,187 miles since then.
The vehicle is currently fitted (29/11/18) with Michelin 205/80R 16 heavy duty winter tyres which have covered 3801 miles since then. It also comes with a separate, complete set of the white rims, also with Michelin tyres.
Total spent on above since 2019 - 7661.00
As of today (23/4/26), there isn't another TD5 advertised on Autotrader with less than 50,000 miles.
I was proposing to complete the restoration project by starting on the bodywork but I have decided against doing so. Not am I prepared to 'bodge' this work by undertaking a cheap makeover with checker plates/filler etc even though I would get a better price if I did so. I believe this vehicle is in a unique position for someone to do a proper job which would elevate its value into the 35k+ bracket.
I have included photos of the invoices to support the figures quoted above.
This vehicle is structurally and mechanically in excellent condition. There can't be many LandRover 90's left with such a low mileage, so it represents an enormous opportunity for a passionate Defender aficionado to complete the job and up up with a beautiful, high value vehicle, preserved for future generations.
