So, buy a genuine low mileage, low owner, straight example and take it to the next level. This is exactly what I've done. Most of these vehicles including 14/15/16 plate vehicles have rusty hinges, rusty seatbelts, rusty bolts both inside and out. They look great on the photos until you go to see them and you think why am I paying 30-40k for a scruffy looking landrover. Well, not this one. Every nut and bolt inside and out (excluding the underside_ has been replaced with stainless steel. All the floor pans have been removed and stainless bolts re secured. All the seatbelt/seatbelt brackets have been replaced and the interior is immaculate. Externally, everything you can see on the outside is brand new. New wing mirrors, new hinges with stainless bolts, new grills and light surrounds, new sidesteps, new halo headlights, indicators etc. New snorkel, new rear tints, new roll over bar (again secured with stainless bolts). New alloys, brand new tyres done 5 miles. Vehicle has been undersealed religiously every year and chassis is in excellent order. Everything about this vehicle is absolutely bob on. I'm very particular and this is one of two immaculate defenders I have. Just mot'd today, and as all previous mots it's flown through. The vehicle had a major service 20 miles ago and in addition all diff oils were replaced along with transfer box oil and gearbox oil - all with the correct grade. The vehicle drives better than any other defender I've had or driven and everything is as tight as it should be. Last month I replaced the spherical seals as they had began to weep slightly. The car comes with a full service history ( initially at kentdale landrover) and more recently at landrover specialists. The cherished plate is NOT included. I still have the original front seat and the original steering wheel The price is NON negotiable and I'm happy to hang on for the right owner.
