Description

The Short Story: I have owned this Topaz Blue beauty (stone-cold future classic) for 12 years. It started its life in the dry South (Surrey) before I brought it up to Scotland with me 6 years ago. It has been my faithful companion on many a fishing trip, but with an expanding family and more fishing rods than I can fit in a Coupe, it's time for it to go to a new home. The "Bulletproof" Bits: This isn't your average "bought it last month to flip" E46. In the last 4,000 miles, I've basically rebuilt the underside so you don't have to. The Big Stuff: Welded sills and jacking points (the Scottish MOT's favorite snack). Suspension & Handling: New wishbones, stabilizer links, rear droplinks, front shocks, and all 4 springs. Stopping: New brake discs, pads, calipers, pipes, and handbrake cables/shoes. Maintenance: New power steering pump, front wheel bearings, front ABS sensors, and the legendary E46 cooling expansion tank. Rubber: Goodyear Vector 4Seasons with plenty of tread. Spec & Interior: Mileage: 177k (Driven properly, not just sat rotting). Gearbox: Proper 5-speed manual. Interior: Montana Beige leather with wood trim. Memory seats, AC, Cruise Control, and Parking Sensors. Reliability: Starts on "half a turn" every single time. It has never once left me stranded in 12 years. The "Character" (Bad Bits): The Battery: The car has a parasitic draw when the alarm is armed. If left for a week, it'll be flat. I've developed a "10mm spanner ritual" where I disconnect the negative terminal if I'm not using it for a few days. Interestingly, if you leave it unlocked/unarmed, it behaves perfectly. The Window: I changed the driver's window regulator, and now the glass is a bit wobbly and doesn't align 100% perfectly. It works, it's just... unique. The Bodywork: It's a 26-year-old BMW. There are "character freckles" (rust) here and there, but nothing structural. Summary: This car has been loved, used as daily down South, and for loch-hopping up North, and maintained by me personally with a folder of receipts to prove it. It's a fantastic driver's car that is ready for the road. Spanner for the battery included at no extra cost.
