Description

Rare opportunity to own a well cared-for Mark1 original Big Healey 3000. Rebuilds may look concourse standard and shiny, but under there the build quality cannot match that of the original Abingdon production line. Combined with an engine that was run in over its first 40 years of ownership in Crouch End, London by being driven to the Flask pub up Highgate Hill once a week on a Sunday, clocking up only around 65 thousand miles, and garaged the rest of the week. Washed by a teenager I met in his later years who revealed its provenance subsequently, so explaining the low mileage of its heritage. The car has been lovingly maintained by the late Peter Moffat at Bridge Garage, Bleadon in Somerset for me, from 2012 until 2020. I have the original tonneau, soft top, windows, bumpers and number plates. The hardtop was reconditioned by Colin Groom (ex-Healey Racing) when the car was just purchased by me from Modern Motors, Paignton, owned by a St. Mawes based driver and member of the South West Owner's Club. The car's more recent heritage is known by racing driver John Chatham. One of the last Mark One's made (1st quarter 1961 - sold via the Mayfair showroom) prior to the less reliable tri-carb Mk2's. Overdrive. Works rally grill. Second climate adjustable engine fan to add cooling. ORIGINAL Kate Moss 1960 Liege-Rome winner's boot badge - rarely seen these days. Side exhaust fitted 2022. Seat belts added 2012. 2 spots plus rear fitted into original loom 2015. Cut-out switch immobiliser. All parts from AH Spares. Only concessions to modernity are modern lightweight starter and alternator to replace dynamo. Ergo polarity reversed. Starts first time. January MOT - no advisories. Full service - oil change etc. Heritage certificate. All bills and purchase report. Owned since 2011.
