We had this car from new, 2006: it has been a really solid machine. Starts and chugs happily, still has original two keys. Family holidays, school runs, bulky shopping trips and maintenance jobs, shifting appliances and furniture, along with seven seats, this car is a brilliant motor! Safe solid and very comfortable on a long journey. Good sound system too. Looked after well mechanically, always had necessary work done to pass the MOT though that has now LAPSED as it has been on SORN. There is NO MOT currently. Engine fires and appears to run well, but DPF (diesel particulate filter) appears to have accumulated debris - may be blocked, so an engine management/DPF error tends to come up on the dash. There is a kind of flap thing (so I have been told) inside the engine which seems to have dis-engaged for the burning up of the soot, probably because in its later years the car was used for mostly just short local trips. So it is probably going to appeal to someone who is good with the spanners and understands these engines and how the filtering system works. Now surplus to requirements for us, children being grown up. So sadly time to say goodbye to our brilliant Volvo which never let us down, bounces over the pot-holes on our cruddy roads - original alloy wheels, recent good tyres, plenty of tread. The interior is tatty and bashed about but has stood up to hard use over the years - note spillage of white paint from DIY shop in footwell, knocks and scuffs on trim and seats, many general bumps and knocks and scuffs, but never smoked in, so no smelly tobacco residue, and all the seats appear to move and slide as they should. Headlamps need a polish or buff up to remove foggy plastic effect. Air conditioning, electric windows and entertainment system all appear to be working fine, as does rear park distance control. Missing red plastic reflector at back on left hand side which is an easy cheap thing to replace. Bonnet struts could use replacing as they have lost their effectiveness. With a bit of TLC this car could perhaps have another good decade or two of life in it. It never let us down and never had any major issues or failures in its long time with us. The engine management soot diesel particulate issue may be an easy fix BUT then again it may not, so I would stress that this is probably a good machine for someone who is mechanically competent!
