Description
MG Midget Race Car
This car was built to race, but has not yet been raced. It is eligible for the HSCC Historic Road Sports series. This MG Midget has been the recipient of a complete ground up, nut and bolt restoration, as the pictorial history shows, with all necessary welding and panel replacement undertaken. It would not be out of place in a new car show room, it is in all respects a new car.
Furthermore this MG is the rare and much sought after, round wheel arch Mark 3 1275cc model (1974).
While the prioritisation of race preparation means it lacks fitted a heater, door cards, carpets and other luxuries associated with the model. These are available to be fitted should the buyer decide to go down a less Spartan race route. It is totally road legal and usable. It is above all a very original car retaining a 1275cc power plant; not modified except to comply with race, with the race petrol tank accessed via the boot and the petrol flow governed by a 'Pro-Fuel' system combined with a 'Posi-Flo' electronic fuel pump. Driver and co-drive have a four point race harness. The carburation is via two balanced SU carburettors and has a four branch exhaust system.
This car has been garaged and only used in dry weather. It comes with a good hood and a rare works hardtop. Interior colour is black and complements the vibrant red paint work, which is in pristine condition. All mechanics are in excellent working order and the bodywork is excellent as you would expect.
Due to its age this MG is both MoT and road tax exempt, however, there are no concerns about it passing a MoT should the buyer require one.
The car has been regularly maintained since its rebuild, as the comprehensive A4 file confirms
