She was bought 16/08/2008. Each year I have done some repairs and maintenance to keep her in good order. Twice she has had more extensive structural repairs underneath and is now sound with no nasty hidden big bills. She starts willingly and is always garaged. We are moving soon and I have not used her enough to justify keeping her, so sadly she is up for sale. There is a matching hardtop, but she would look fine if a new hood was fitted; the present one will just get you home on a wet day. These is some patchy older history in the file. She in now just over the magic 40 year old mark. List of repairs whilst under my ownership. 2015- Extensive underside bodywork repair to the Driver's side. Driver front wing removed. On the driver's side a new wheel arch, repairs to inner sill, new outer sill fitted, refit all panels and respray. 2016 - New Mercedes starter relay fitted. 2018 - Radiator rebuild. New front coil springs and drop links. New Alternator 2020 - All Brake callipers removed, reconditioned, new discs and pads front and rear. 2020- Fuel injection system and fuel distributor reconditioned - new internal seals suitable for lead free E10 fuel. 2025 - Welding to nearside front wheel well inner sill. Underseal applied to underbody areas. The fuel injection rebuild was by DWR racing, Mr Whitehurst was originally trained at a Mercedes garage, the uprated kit is compatible with modern fuels as is the cylinder heads on Mercedes from the early eighties onwards. The car has the fairly rare rear seats fitted, which have lap belts but are suitable only for children over any distance. She always starts willingly. If you don't know these cars, they are structurally 'built like a tank' and are heavy, so progress is smooth but not rapid. The recirculating ball system favoured by Mercedes at that time gives very light steering, but lacks 'feel'. She needs a new hood ideally, they are about 1500 fitted for a good duckdown hood at Northern Hoods in Hyde, ( I would recommend them).
