Description
After at least 10 years of fun during my ownership my MR2 sadly has to go to fund a new project. She is almost standard with the exception of a Matt Performance under body brace which transforms the handling.
The exhaust header cats have been removed and she recently had refurbished wheels and 4 new Toyo Proxes tyres. The front calipers were changed at the last MOT as was one rear caliper. So the brakes are excellent. The hood was replaced a few years ago with a rather dashing red Mercedes mohair and this makes her stand out above the crowd.
She drives fantastically and likes nothing better than a good thrashing on a regular basis. ;)
As with all vehicles of this age and mileage, there has to be a few negative points. Cosmetically she would relish a little touching up -see photos for reference. I replaced one of the O2 lambda sensors a while ago but on an intermittent basis the engine light warns that another needs to be renewed. And there is a small electrical drain that can require the battery to be recharged every 4 to 6 weeks if you don't use her regularly.
But that's it. This is the most fun you can have for the least money and these MR2s really are 90% of a Lotus Elise for 10% of the money.
What's more is that prices for these bottomed about 18 months ago and they are only going up from here. There will never be another petrol-powered, mid-engined, rear drive, affordable sports car, so get yours while you still can. I promise you won't regret it.
